The Foreign Ministry of Finland organizes together with the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Federal District of Northwest Russia and the Northern Research Forum an expert seminar on Finnish and Russian Arctic Partnership in St. Petersburg on the 9^th of February 2011.

The seminar will be opened by Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb and Ilja Klebanov, the Russian President’s representative in Northwest Russia. The seminar is consisted of three section – Political dialogue, Technology cooperation, and Arctic research and environmental protection – of discussion. Though there has been Finnish-Russian cooperation on the Arctic and arctic research, this seminar offers a new kind of opportunity for a dialogue between researchers, business people, policy-makers and authorities.

Among the speakers are MPs Ulla Karvo and Artur Tsilingarov, CEOs Eduard Khudainativ (Rosneft) and Juha Heikinheimo (STX Finland), and Deputy Director Alexander Danilov (AARI).

Dr. Lassi Heininen and Prof. Nikita Lomagin from the Northern Research Forum will make comments after the presentations. The moderators of the seminar are ambassadors Hannu Halinen from Finland and Anton Vasiliev from Russia.
