The main theme of the Calotte Academy 2009 is "Environmental Politics and Industrial Development (in the Eurasian North)". The 2009 Academy will take place in May 28 - June 2, 2009 in four locations, in Inari, Finland, in Kirkenes, Norway, in Murmansk, Russia and in "Meänmaa", Kolari-Pajala on the Finnish-Swedish. The Calotte Academy is a travelling expert symposium in different locations in different regions and countries in the North Calotte, or the Barents Region. It consists of both public sessions with presentations by experts (from Canada, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden and USA) and open discussion, and academic workshops for scholars, scientists and (graduate and post-graduate) students.
