Proceedings

The proceedings of the open meetings will be published on this website as soon as possible after each meeting, (click on appropriate button above) and in printed version if possible.

The printed proceedings of the first NRF (North Meets North) were published in October 2001 with generous support from the Nordic Arctic Research Program (NARP).

The printed proceedings of the second NRF (Northern Veche) were published in February 2004, both in English and Russian.

The proceedings of the fourth NRF (The Borderless North) were published on the web in November 2007. A printed version was published in the summer of 2008 and will be distributed at the fifth NRF.

The International Summer School in Karelia (ISSK) 2009 - Final Report
The 6th International Summer School in Karelia 2009, ISSK'09 took place in Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia, Russia hosted by the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at Petrozavodsk State University during April 17th - 22nd, 2009. The theme of the ISSK'09 was "Environmental Politics in the Eurasian North"

2008 Oslo Seminar
On the 24th of June 2008 in Oslo the research institute Ocean Futures and the Northern Research Forum jointly hosted a seminar that explored various aspects of Arctic and northern affairs. The seminar was entitled “The Politics of the Eurasian Arctic. National Interests and International Challenges”.

Calotte Academy 2005 - Final Report
The Calotte Academy 2005 took place in Jeera Hall of the Saami Area Educational Center in the village of Inari in Finland, 26-29 May 2005. The final report can be viewed here.

The Northern Economy Workshop was held in Oulu, Finland, in May 2005. The primary objective of the workshop was to strengthen the economic study of the Circumpolar North through networking among economists working throughout the north. The workshops recognized that economists have something to say but are underrepresented in the discussion of the north. Here you find Joan Nymand Larsen's and Lee Huskey's report on the workshop.
