The Canadian Circumpolar Institute Biennial International Seminar Series, "Canada's and Europe's Northern Dimensions", presents a seminar about "Geopolitical and Legal Aspects of Canada's and Europe's Northern Dimensions".

The seminar will be held on the 27th - 28th of May 2010 at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

The seminar is jointly organized by CCI (Canada), Thule Institute (Finland), the Stefansson Arctic Institute (Iceland) and the Northern Research Forum ((NRF) Iceland). The seminar is supported by the Canadian Polar Commission, Academy of Finland FiDiPro, Embassy of Denmark in Canada, the Embassy of Finland in Canada, Embassy of Norway in Canada, and the Henry Marshall Tory Chair of Anthropology, University of Alberta

A joint initiative by the Canadian Circumpolar Institute, University of Alberta, Canada and the Thule Institute, University of Oulu, Finland, the inaugural seminar was held in Oulu on 19th May 2008 and the book of proceedings was published by University of Oulu Press (2009). It provided an opportunity for Canadian and Finnish and other Nordic policy-makers and researchers to present their research findings, discuss trends in policy, share their experiences, and offer their perspectives on the future challenges facing the northern regions of Europe and Canada.

The second seminar in this series will be held in Edmonton in May 2010, and CCI and the Thule Institute will be joined by Iceland's Stefansson Arctic Institute and the Northern Research Forum in enlarging the participation of polar institutes and northern organizations in the organization of the series. The proceedings will be published in 2011.
