Stefán B. Sigurðsson |

Dr. Stefán B. Sigurðsson is the rector of the University of Akureyri and holds a Ph.D. degree from the Medical Faculty of the University of Lund in Sweden. Dr. Sigurðsson was the director of the Physiology Institution at the University of Iceland and the president of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Iceland. Dr. Sigurðsson has been a visiting professor at the University of Manitoba and at the University of Calgary.
The main research work of Dr. Sigurðsson in Iceland has been on vascular and airway smooth muscle, mainly bronchial. Other research areas are Malignant hyperthermia (MH), which is a defect in the response of skeletal muscle to certain kind of anaesthetics. Dr. Sigurðsson is a board member of the European Malignant Hyperthermia Group. He is also a member in a research group working on an epidemiological study of risk factors in cardiovascular diseases. This study includes a comparison of health status of people living in eastern Iceland and their "Icelandic" relatives living in Canada.

Mr. Inuuteq Holm Olsen is the Deputy Minister for the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Greenland since July 2006 and served as Acting Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs since December 2004. He was the Head of Department from September 2003. Inuuteq Holm Olsen began his career at the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1996 and has been the Private Secretary to the Premier from 1997 till 1999. He worked at the Danish Foreign Ministry in Copenhagen and was posted at the Greenland Representation in Brussels from 2000 till 2003.
Mr. Inuuteq Holm Olsen earned a B.A in Political Science from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1994 and a M.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University in 1996.
Besides having the responsibility of Greenland's foreign affairs he has served as guest lecturer and speaker at several universities and international conferences on topics related to Greenland and politics in the Arctic. He was an expert adviser in the joint Danish-Greenlandic Commission on Self-Government regarding foreign affairs 2006 - 2008. He was also a member of the 2008 Danish Defence Commission representing the Government of Greenland. |

Amy L. Wiita, President/Principle Research Scientist |

Amy Lynn Wiita is a research scientist and developing artist who has combined her interests in the visual arts and the environment in interdisciplinary research focusing on artists' experience of place and the connections between art and environment. She is applying this research to a doctoral degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Ms. Wiita holds a Bachelor and a Master of Science degree in forestry from Michigan State University. She coordinates the NRF Young Researcher activities and co-chairs the NRF committee on higher education and supervision. She is also actively involved with collaborations between the NRF and the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists.
Ms. Wiita is the Owner and Principal Research Scientist for Cinza Research LLC in Anchorage, Alaska. She is an interdisciplinary researcher and scholar working in the social, natural, and public health sciences. Her expertise includes qualitative research design, implementation and analysis, bridging quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and project management and organization. Her formal education and experience in both the social and natural sciences allows her to integrate a variety of methodologies and theoretical foundations. She has a commitment to culturally appropriate research practices and understands the importance of developing research with people in partnership. |

Žaneta Ozoliņa, Professor |

Žaneta Ozoliņa is Professor of International Relations at the Department of Political Science, University of Latvia. She chaired the Strategic Analysis Commission under the Auspices of President of the Republic of Latvia (2004-2008). The key fields of her expertise are European integration, the EU and NATO enlargement, international and regional security, as well as the security of the Baltic Sea region. Žaneta is an Author of more than 70 publications, chief editor of several books, member of the International Advisory Board of the Journal of Baltic Studies. She is an Adjunct professor of the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL), Member of the European Research Area Board, European Commission and the Baltic Development Forum Advisory Board. |

Peter G. Johnson, PhD, Arctic Scientist |

Dr. Peter Johnson is Emeritus Professor in Geography at the University of Ottawa, Canada and a Research Fellow of the Arctic Institute of North America. His research and teaching career focused on the physical environment of arctic and mountain environments and involved a strong commitment to field programs in physical geography and glaciology in undergraduate training. He filled a number of roles in national and international arctic science with the Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies, the Canadian Polar Commission, the Canadian IPY National Committee, the University of the Arctic and the International Arctic Science Committee. He is currently a member of the Science Advisory Board for the Department of National Defense in Canada, a member the Partnership Group for Science and Engineering, and Chair of the Board for the Storm Systems in the Arctic research network of the Canadian Foundation for Climate and Atmospheric Sciences. He was one of the founding members of the NRF Steering Committee. |
