The NRF Steering Committee consists of eleven scholars and experts from eight Northern countries. The overall direction of the Northern Research Forum is in the hands of the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee members all serve in their personal capacities and serve for four-year (renewable) terms. The NRF Steering Committee is a self-perpetuating body that solicits new members as appropriate. In selecting new members, the committee seeks to include individuals familiar with the concerns of a variety of Northern constituencies and stakeholders. One important aspect of the NRF Steering Committee is that it operates by consensus among members present. The chair of the Committee is Dr. Lassi Heininen.
